Quiltish Baby Blanket

Pattern Details
The Quiltish Baby Blanket is a worsted weight baby blanket that is fun and interesting to knit.

Construction Details
The blanket is based on a single square motif that begins with a center garter stitch square, knit in the main color (MC).
Upon completion of the center square, stitches are either knit, or picked up and knit, along each of the edges to create 4 triangles in a contrasting color (CC1) - which results in a ‘square inside of a square’.

The finished baby blanket consists of 9 squares joined together (although you could easily make it larger by knitting more squares).
After joining all 9 squares, a garter stitch border is picked up in a 2nd contrasting color (CC2) on each of the 4 sides, to frame the quilt.

Yarn
825 yds weight yarn (325 yds MC, 375 yds CC1 and 125 yds CC2)
Needles
size 8 needles (straight or circular for knitting each square)
size 8 circular, 24-32” long (for knitting borders)
Misc
locking ring stitch markers, row counter, tapestry needle

Gauge
4 sts = 1” in garter stitch
Change needles size as necessary, for accurate gauge!

Required skills
Casting on, knitting, decreasing (k2tog, ssk and s2kp), picking up and knitting stitches, and binding off.
